Greetings from sunny and warm Pittsburgh, PA where #nasig2023 is being held! The conference officially started in the afternoon here at the beautiful and historic Omni William Penn Hotel. The NASIG Board met through most of the day while attendees began to arrive from all over the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. In the late afternoon, there was a reception for first time attendees followed by the conference opening in the Grand Ballroom which included recognizing the many deserving award winners this year.

Following the award ceremony, we were treated to an energetic, humorous, and impassioned talk by Dan Law, Vice President for Capital Projects & Major Gifts, the Warhol Museum. Law spoke eloquently about the aspirations and challenges of transforming and benefiting society through exposure to art and creative projects by means of a Warhol Museum project known as The Pop District. You are strongly encouraged to explore the great things they are doing and planning! It was an entertaining and impressive talk followed by Q & A.

After that, attendees enjoyed a sumptuous meal at the Opening Reception in the Urban Room next door. This room is elaborately decorated in Art Deco style for a classic look and feel.
One aspect of the event that was also recognized was the amazing support from vendor colleagues who provided sponsorship of our event, including ACS Publications, AIP Publishing, Bloomsbury Digital Resources, EBSCO (a conference and award sponsor), JoVE, ACM Open, Harrassowitz (a conference and award sponsor), Health Affairs, IOP Publishing, Lyrasis, Oxford University Press, Project Muse, Springer Nature, Wiley, W.T. Cox, OCLC, and Taylor & Francis Group. We so much appreciate their involvement and support.

More to report tomorrow after the first full day of the conference.
