Call for NASIG Newsletter Conference Reporters + New Twist

Reporters wanted! NASIG Newsletter is currently seeking brief reports of conferences, meetings, seminars, and other serial and e-resources related events NASIG members have attended.

Please share brief reports discussing a particular session or meeting you have attended this year that would be of interest to NASIG members. The best reports are informal, hitting the main points and piquing interest to know more. We are currently seeking reports for the following events:

§  2012 Charleston Conference

§  ALA Annual Meeting @ Chicago

§  UKSG 36th Annual Conference and Exhibition

§  22nd Annual North Carolina Serials Conference

§  Electronic Resources and Libraries (ER&L)

Reports from other meetings not listed will also be considered for inclusion.

We are also experimenting with something new—NASIG’s Core Competencies for Electronic Resources Librarians garnered much needed attention at this year’s conference in Buffalo, so we decided to experiment with offering a new section in which members offer tips on how to obtain  these competencies. Here are some examples:

  • Tips on managing e-journal title transfers
  • How to select a troubleshooting ticketing system
  • License negotiation tips

We are open to suggestions, so if an idea comes to mind, please consider contributing!

Reports from other meetings not listed will also be considered for inclusion.

Please send your submission directly to Rachel Erb at

Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis and will be included in subsequent issues of the NASIG Newsletter. Word, OpenOffice, .rtf and plain text submissions are acceptable.
